Ibrahim Abdel- Pyramids Fc Scout Report
Ibrahim Adel- Creative Egyptian Winger lighting up Egyptian League
Date of birth: 1 May 2001
Country: Egypt
Position: LW, RW
Height: 173cm
Preferred foot: Right
There are 3 certain things in life: Death, Taxes and Egypt providing a creative attacker every few years. Trezeguet, Ahmed Hassan and of course Mo Salah have all led the nation, and now the future looks to be Ibrahim Adel's turn. Signed for just 25 thousand Euro's, Pyramids look set to make a hefty profit selling on the winger.
In 13 games so far this season, Adel has started 9 games and been in the team of the week 2 times, a number that is no doubt going to rise as the season progresses. Playing mainly on the left wing, he looks like a modern left winger with incredible pressing and cutting inside to go along with his pace and dribbling skills. In contrast, he rarely crosses, attempting only 0.2 per game. You won't see him hugging the touch line, instead he will be running in behind his defender, often causing nightmares for the oppositions right back. His dribble success rate of 50% is eye catching although he only attempts 2 per game.
Already with 5 goals this season, 4 of them being on his stronger right foot which have resulted from his willingness to cut inside, he has a decent 15% goal conversion rate which is better than it sounds. The Egyptian premier league is notorious for low scoring games and in a higher scoring league there is no dount that Adel can increase this percentage. For comparison, a very similar player is Celtic's Daizen Maeda, who has a goal conversion rate of 13%. All of Adel's goals are inside the box, showcasing even further how much he fits into the modern inside forward role.
Majority of Adel's passes are in the opposition half, only making around 5.0 passes per game inside his own half at a 90% accuracy rate, with 18.2 passes being made in the opposition half. His high pressing is a massive plus to the eye appeal with his stamina and work rate being very clear to anyone watching his game although the stats do no not jump out at you, he often forces the opposition to make a rushed clearance which will result in greater stats should Adel move to Europe as Egyptian teams do not play out from the back as well as their European counterparts. Still Adel recovers 2.9 possesion per game despite the difference in play style.
Ibrahim Adel has played 6 games so far for the Egyptian national team which may seem low but you can forgive him as the player in his position for the national team is none other than captain Mo Salah. With Salah likely to retire from international duty in the next few years expect Adel to take over this role for country. The low amount of caps hasn't put off interest from Europe, with Chelsea, Newcastle, Aston Villa, Anderlecht and Dinamo Zagreb having been linked to Adel in recent years. And in 2023 a move to Glasgow Rangers seemed to be in the works before it fell through due to the summer transfer closing. I expect Adel to continue to attract interest from Europe in the next year or so.
Adel is a player with huge potential no doubt. However there a few things needed to improve on his side to bring that potential into ability. Ball control is something that could be improved, often his first touch making him work harder than he needs to. This can also lead to him losing possesion a little more than you would like to. However with the clubs he was linked with I expect them all to be willing to develop the technical side to his game.
Ideal Club:
I am going to stick with the club he almost moved to last summer, Glasgow Rangers. Rangers are looking to make serious changes this summer following a poor season and one of the positions that need a revamp is the left and right wing. Rangers play a possession based style of play typically in a 4-3-3 formation which suits Adel's style of play perfectly. Adels pace and high pressing will cause problems for defenders in Scotland and just turning 23 seems to be a perfect fit for Rangers new revamped squad this summer.
