Position: LW

Preferred foot: Right

Club: FCSB

There is something majestic about watching a creative winger with the ball at his feet. The excitement on every fan waiting for something to happen is hard to replicate. And with Florinel Coman the excitement never seems to run out.

Starting 31 of the 34 league games he appeared in this season, Coman notched up an impressive 18 goals and 10 assists and made a fantastic 15 team of the week appearances. A complete modern winger with high pressing, dribbling, pace and the ability to cut inside and create for himself and team mates, he can walk into majority of teams across Europe.

There is a lot to like about Coman's game. When we look at his attacking stats they jump out at you. Taking 3.5 shots per game with 2.0 being on target and posting up a very respectable 15% goal conversion rate he fits the bill for teams looking to play attacking football. The majority of his goals are inside the box with 13 and 5 outside of the box. His goals are a mix of having the ball at his feet and taking a pop or using his blistering pace to run on to a through ball and slot it past the keeper. 4 of his 5 goals from outside the box came from free kicks. His free kicks are something he has practiced ever since he was a kid.

When it comes to passing he is a very effective player. Averaging 2.1 key passes per game and 21.4 passes per game at a 76% accuracy rate, his passes are mostly short but he has it all averaging over 1.0 long balls, crosses and chipped passes per game. His chipped passes are a thing of beauty, often dinking it over the defender to a forward running on to it, they instantly create a chance for his team. But it's not just his passing, his dribbling is a key skill. Averaging 2.5 dribbles per game at a success rate of 56%, he is a nightmare for defenders matched up with him. Coman often beats his man and sends in a cross or pass into the box for his attackers. As mentioned earlier his high pressing is effective, winning 6.5 duals per game, 5.0 on the ground and 1.0 in the air. Rarely offside, only being offside 0.1 per game his attacking position is something very underrated. He is also fouled 2.6 times per game which is a bonus for teams looking to counter.

Coman is a very good player who has been getting better each season, however there is a big problem when it comes to his game. Despite only fouling 0.9 times per game he has picked up 7 yellow cards and 2 reds, showing a discipline problem that could be an issue for teams competing for trophies.

Ideal Club:

I am surprised Coman has stayed in Romania this long to be honest, an attacking minded forward putting up great stats is something most teams salivate over. But Coman's time in his homeland looks to be coming to an end with a move to Qatari side Al-Duhail looking very likely. An interesting move that could raise some eyebrows, but there has been a recent trend of players moving to Qatar hoping to develop whilst picking up big money before making the move back to Europe. Ideally I would love to see Coman make the move to a European side or Japanese side where his attacking skillset would be utalized to full effect, however keep an eye on Coman in the coming years should he make the move to Qatar with a return to Europe likely.
