The modern striker has to do it all, hold up the ball, make forward runs and of course finish at a high level. And with a goal conversion rate of 22% Albion Rrahmani ticks all the boxes for any club looking to bolster their front line.
A Kosovo native, Albion has been lighting up the Romanian league after moving for a modest fee of 600,000 Euros. This did make him the highest departure in Kosovo league history. In 25 league games he notched up 17 goals, 16 of those being in the box and adding 5 assists to his impressive stat line. Averaging 3.2 shots per game with 1.3 on target, his finishing is the key skill he has to offer, scoring with both feet as well as his head.
Albion's hold up play is very impressive, using his height and strength to keep hold of the ball. What's interesting is he doesn't hold up the ball like the traditional way, flicking the ball on to players making forward runs like Emile Heskey for example, instead he holds up the ball, brings it under control before turning and either passing it on or making space for a shot. At times he can look a little uncoordinated but this is mainly due to his large frame looking unconvential. His dribbling is seriously underrated, his long legs allow him to make great strides with the ball at his feet, even making an assist this season by dribbling past 3 players before dinking the ball in to his team mate. When he has the ball at his feet he does not panic, letting his team mates make a run before passing it at the right time. His hold up play leads to 2.0 key passes per game and is the reason he added 5 assists this season. He only has 14.8 passes per game which will likely increase over time as he finds his feet in the professional game having only completing one season outside of his native Kosovo. His positioning and ability to find space is a thing of beauty, especially from set pieces, being able to peel of his defender and get a free header in the 6 yard box. Being able to create space as a striker is key in this day and age and will be rewarded with goals. Similar to Kyogo Furuhashi of Celtic who is known for his off ball movement, Albion uses his pace, strength and height to great effect and over time he will easily get 20 plus goals per season.
His pressing needs a little bit of work which again will likely be fine tuned over time, especially if he gets the move he has earned. Albion commits almost the same amount of fouls as he is fouled with 1.1 fouls commited compared to 1.2 fouls won per game. This earned him 5 yellow cards which could be a problem but again should he move his pressing game will be finely tuned over time. He does have good pace which should be used to good effect in terms of pressing.
Already linked with some European clubs such as both Slavia and Sparta Prague as well as Rangers, a move this summer seems inevitable and the 5 million euro price tag seems like a bargain given both his potential and current ability. 5 million might seem a little high for the teams mentioned but I don't have any doubts that the 5 million investment will be at least doubled in the next year or two. Good news to teams who are circling Albion, he has started to get international caps for Kosovo who are slowly improving so the experience gained from European matches should provide more improvement for the big striker.
Ideal Club:
All clubs that have been mentioned already would be a good move personally, all playing in European competitions and in "stepping stone" leagues. However I believe he is a must buy for Glasgow Rangers. Rangers who had a disappointing season look set to rebuild the squad and a striker is a must buy. Albion provides everything Rangers are looking for: A number 9 that can hold the ball up, be physical, win headers, be pacy and of course finish. Domestically Albion should be a top player and playing in a possession based team should likely benefit him and the team, leading to plenty of goals. A move to Rangers will improve the team and should Albion impress a move to England's premier league is a strong possibility making himself and Rangers that little bit richer.
